Some Notes from a first time making Sub
This applies to making standard CVG substrate only, other types differ
- The values for the amount of water to add is based on dried, compressed bricks of CVG. If you happen to get a bag of generic "Coco coir potting mix", it has most of that already in it. Reduce the amount of water by roughly half.
- Keep the sub warm for several hours and give it at least 6 hours to soak up all the water.
- If you accidentally put too much water in and its "soup" after about 2 hours, add 2 cups of coir and 1 cup of vermiculite then stir, let sit for 30 mins and reevaluate. Also, put it on low heat to keep it really warm and steaming. This will speed up absorption and help evaporate a little of the excess.
